The cash rate is at a 49 year low, from september 2008 it has spiralled down to the current rate of 3% there is a scramble for fixed home loan options as it is enevitable that the RBA will push an upward move on the official cash rate. The Major banks were under fire earlier this year when their interest rate cuts didn't match the RBA's cuts to the offical cash rates. They could be under fire again now if they out pace the Offical Cash rate rises.
